Ridin' Into Town Alone, By The Light Of The Moon...

Well, where to start...
NOTE: Well, I guess I just did!
I wanted to start off with something catchy and all, but most of the good ones are taken:
"A man walks into a bar..."
"You won't believe this, but..."
"It all started with..."
"Just got back, I been gone too long..."
"There once was a man who liked Nantucket..."

So, I'm Happy to be back,
and Happy that You're Happy I'm Back! :)

FIRST and Foremost, I want to THANK Everyone for "Playin' Nice" and Continuing to Rock On! In My Absence... Too numerous to mention by Name (ALL Those that sent in Comments, Links, Etc. whether thru e-mail or C-Box or whatever...) AND I know I'd probably leave someone out...

THANK YOU for not lettin' Hear Rock City turn into a Ghost Town!

Of Course, I have to THANK My Main Man - SMOKER!
So, as Mayor of HRC - I've KNIGHTED Him (SIR smoker of Scotland!) And it is with Great Honor I Award him this Medal:

Also, I'm KNIGHTING Buckeye as Well (SIR Buckeye of Ohio!) for going above and beyond and becoming a Full-Time Partner Here, and am awarding him this Medal:

ANOTHER NOTE: More Info on the 3 of US later...

This Really Sums It Up So Well...
FROM The COMMENTS SECTION:
"I assume that if Rocket comes back, he will be proud of what happened here with Smoker and others driving the blog safely on the musical highway!
Cheers,
Derek from Paris

Well looks like the gang is all together again with the return to HRC of Mayor Rocket.
And I've already got myself a new title. Thanks for that!
I'm wearing my medal as I'm doing this, probably won't wear it in public tho'!
Good news that he's back I'm just glad we could keep it together.I can't deny there were a few times I felt like chucking it.Luckily Buck arrived in the nick of time.
Cheers Buddy!
Thanks to all who contributed as well and keep doing so.

Here's a more complete version of the Chelmsford 1980 show (or so it says).
Plus a couple of bonus tracks.
Great band those first two albums are right up there with the best of 80's Metal releases.
Of course the rhythm section would be dumped for more image friendly players.
Even tho' legend has it they wrote the majority of those albums as Ozzy was otherwise indisposed!

This comes in from our old friend UFOSteve.
Cheers Buddy!

One of the best sounding recordings I've heard of this line of UFO
same set list as the Birmingham show that's on this site.
But this appears to be a new bootleg out there so I've sent it in.
I always think this line up of the band may have gone on longer if they had not been called UFO.
Maybe the Phil Mogg Band or whatever.
But then that's just UFO all over never sure what was about to happen next.

ACE is got a New CD comin' out in July - "Space Invader!"
And he's such a joker that he re-did Steve Miller's "The Joker," on the new record + 9 other Original tracks...
So, That's in the near Future...
But right now, I wanna go back, way back (...in the West Coast Groove!)
Back to MOLIMO... Say What, Curly?
This Year (2014) These Recordings (Acetates) were found, in of all places, a BARN! (And you thought the HRC Vault was just somethin' I made up havin' a little FUN!)
Anyway, What we have hear (here) is - Supposedly - The EARLIEST Known Major Label Recording of one Paul "ACE" Frehley on Record!
The band Molimo wanted so bad to be ANOTHER Jefferson Airplane (And ACE Surely, Curly, Wasn't a great fit and the last one to join up - But Hey, I'm sure they had great mind-altering drugs and such being all into the Trippy-Hippy-Kinda Music - That it went, Well, to no one's surprise - Unfinished and Unreleased!)

There's just 3 Songs Here, and they're NOT even Labeled or Named...
BUT, for all KISS and ACE Fans & Collectors - It's Pretty Interesting Fare!
Oh, BTW, a MOLIMO is a strange Trumpet-like Instrument from somewhere in the World...

Got some thoughts on my mind - Here @ 3:00 in the morning... Before I Really Get Back To Postin' Bootlegs!
WARNING: This Could Be Long-Winded...
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For those HRC Rockers who have been visitin'  Hear about a  YEAR or MORE - You're Excused!
You've heard it ALL before and You KNOW how things work 'round Hear and so on....
-----------------------------------------------------------------
For those of You that are fairly NEW @ HRC - Welcome and all that!
FIRST, Things won't be changin' much just 'cause I'm back... Everyone WILL keep doin' what they're doin' ('Cause They Believe in this place, and It's just the way they are - They're Good People!).
SECOND, Those that DON'T KNOW - I'm Rocket (NOT The Great and Powerful OZ!) - I started this Blog Way Back in the early 2000's as a way for ANYONE to get into the Hobby Of  Bootlegs (Which is quite different than Piracy!)... without any Hoops to Jump through, No Secret Hand Shakes, No Put-Downs for those just Learnin' to D/L or U/L, No Bad-Mouthin' Bands you Like or Don't Like, and So On... A Concert with Artwork - Simple and Easy!

That's IT! That's MY Claim to Fame... I got the Ball Rollin'
I got smoker involved (Which was one of MY better moves! For Sure!) Buckeye's been around ALL this time as well... We THREE met over @ the CELLAR and had that site Rockin' Like It was On Fire!

Anyway, I have ONLY ONE RULE, really, and that's "PLAY NICE!" - translate that to mean "Don't be an asshole" or whatever works for you... Doesn't mean you CAN'T disagree with things that are said or posted here, Just don't be a "Dick!" IF you want DRAMA - Go turn on the TV and watch any Reality Show you wish! (I remember way back years ago, a guy would comment every damn day how ALL the shows on the site were Crappy... Seriously, he showed up like clockwork to tell me how bad the Concerts I posted were and that MY Artwork was even worse... (Yeah, I Posted His Comments) So, I challenged the SumBitch to U/L Somethin', Anythin', Better - Yep! You guessed It! -- He NEVER did!)
NOTE: Hey Buck, You remember that time we stayed up like Night and Day for days Runnin' Off Spider-Boy from the C-Box?  WE gave that Bastard Hell (Especially YOU!)
ANOTHER NOTE: I've seen Others here that have Told Other Folks When they're gettin' out of line, as well! Makes me Proud!

THIRD, smoker and Buckeye BOTH have FULL Admin Rights here - I don't Suggest, Filter or Censor What They Post in any way... I KNOW Them and I TRUST Them, and They NEVER let Me (or YOU) down, Now do They?
NOTE: I need to Give them BOTH a raise! I think I'll Triple Their Pay... SO, $0.00 x 3 would equal, well THREE times what they're gettin' now...

LASTLY, Enjoy your time here, have FUN! 'Cause WE Make NO DEMANDS on You...

We DON'T:
* Ask for Your $
* Expect You to Like EVERY Post (So IF That's the case - Let it go on by - There's sure to be somethin' You Will Like Sooner or Later!)
* Demand You say "Thank You" to get a LINK, or Ever! (But I gotta Tell You that HRC gets the BEST COMMENTS of ANY Blog I've EVER Run Across! Sometimes full of extra Info, Etc. - So, Even IF you don't Post Comments you might wanna check some out...)
* Expect You to U/L anything at all, BUT, you can IF'n You want, Wonderful! (IF you Don't KNOW How, We can teach you fairly easily...)
* Tell You to Agree with EVERYTHING that goes on here - Just Disagree "Nicely!

------------------------------------------------------------------
EVEN ANOTHER NOTE: I, personally, use simple zip files @ 192kbps mp3, mostly, UNLESS, 128's all I got it in, Etc. (It works for ME!) But others have been known to U/L with rar files, and at different bit rates (Anywhere from 128 to 320 to FLAC)... IF I can't find any Artwork - I make It! (For Better or Worse - and I've made some I'm Proud of and Some I'm Not, So There!) EVEN IF that one guy doesn't like it - He said this was just a "Pretty Picture Site..."
SO, OUR PURPOSE Is to Share Great Music with Great Folks, Like YourOwnSelf!
AGAIN, THANKS to EVERYONE for Makin' HEAR ROCK CITY YOUR CITY!
Let's ALL Keep This Ol' BARN-A-ROCKIN'

EVEN ONE MORE ANOTHER NOTE: Those of You been here quite awhile are in for a couple nice surprises...SOON!

Not enough time, too many things to do...

REO Speedwagom - LIVE! From back in '78...
Gary "Guitar" Richrath and the (What I Consider, anyway) Classic Line-Up of the 'Wagon Rockin' Right Out LOUD!
Man, Does He Crank Up That Les Paul, Or what?
It's one of those Live-In-The-Studio Kinda Things...So there's just a small audience present...
Excellent FM Radio Broadcast Sound Quality!
Excellent Performance Quality!
Excellent Setlist!
ONLY Problem with It?
Too Short!
But, That's OK!
I Can Always Just Go and Put in their Official LIVE "You Get What You Play For!" or Many Other REO Bootlegs!

LIVE from My Father's Place 1977!
So It's probably a WLIR-FM Radio Broadcast!
Excellent Early Concert from Tom & The Heartbreakers!
This concert takes place BEFORE the release of the "You're Gonna Get It" LP...
That 2nd Album didn't come out until the following May...1978!
Even though they do a couple tunes that was featured on that record: Listen To Her Heart and I Need To Know.
So when Tom just says, "Here's one from the Album," or Somethin' like that, he's referring to their 1st LP.
I've had this one on Repeat as of late...It's THAT good!
Little bit of Hiss & Static that doesn't take away from the Overall Concert one bit!
ALL The Info is On The Back Cover...
What a Setlist!
Classic Band Line-Up:
Tom Petty - vocals & guitar
Mike Campbell - guitar
Benmont Tench - keyboards
Ron Blair - bass
Stan Lynch - drums

Hear Rock City Exclusive!

Out last night to see Rival Sons in Edinburgh.
With (Thunder) Brian and his son Young Scott.
Another excellent show from one of our favourite bands promoting their new album Great Western Valkyrie.
And they weren't shy about playing tunes from it either.
Small venue that was hotter than hell, sweat was dripping from places it shouldn't have been!
I'm pleased with the recording it does contain a lot of audience noise but that's the way of it at those small gigs.
If you're not too bothered and want to hear a great band live and raw,dig in.

This one's dedicated to smoker
He likes them Mama's Boys (Well, Hell - So Do I!)
Knowin' Him, he's probably already got this one (Scotland's Greatest Music Man, that he is...).
This was their very FIRST Release (Well, almost?)
The FIRST Print of this from 1980 had 10 songs, and was released on their own Pussy Records, whereas THIS re-issue from 1981 ONLY has 8 songs... Not sure WHY they dropped 2 songs off?
OR, Is this the re-issue from 1983 (On Spartan Records - it also had ONLY the SAME 8 songs!)
Not sure it matters?
Wasn't sure so I put the Spartan Label on the Back Cover?
Mama's Boys were just one of many, many bands during the NWOBHM...But they were Unique and Rockin' and had a Great Sound, with an occasional fiddle solo from Pat!

This one's dedicated to Buckeye!
It's a Tribute Band to UFO...
But, not just any ol' tribute band - This one features Mike McCready of Pearl Jam! (That's him on the Front Cover strikin' his Best Schenker Pose!) And I do Believe you'll be surprised at his Guitar Playin' Here!
To Listen to a Sample - You can OPEN instead of D/L the song & it should Play with whatever mp3 player's on your computer.

They get together now and then, play UFO songs, and give ALL the money earned to benefit The Crohn’s (Of which, McCready suffers...) and Colitis Foundation of America’s Camp Oasis and Advocacy for Patients with Chronic Illness - two non-profits that McCready has supported for nearly a decade!
This IS an Excellent AUD Recording!
And an Excellent Performance...
And an Excellent Setlist!

Excellent FM broadcast from that Delaware destroyer, Mr. George Thorogood. Keepin' the spirit of that old time R&R alive with his own little twist to it. Hard to believe that 'ole George has been around for 40+ years, doin' his thing all over the planet (Ain't bitching). So have one scotch, one bourbon, and one beer (or the poison of your choice), and crank this bad boy up!

Here's an AwesomeHumble Pie Concert from the city so nice they named it twice - New York, New York!
There's no date listed here, (Other than 1981) But it musta been sometime before July, 'cause Steve injured his hand and developed an ulcer and the remaining tour dates were cancelled!
They recorded 2 LPs in the Early-80s (On To Victory - Which Steve mentions durin' the show! & Go For The Throat - Steve also mentions This LP will be out Sometime?)
This version of The Pie, Includes Original Drummer Jerry Shirley...And IF You Think Marriott was All Washed by this time in his career - Think Again! This Concert is The Proof: The Swagger, The Guitar, The Preachin'-The-Gospel of Rock N Roll - ALL comes out Loud & Proud Here!
I've Left EVERYTHING Intact Here - Even The Song Intros (Somethin' I might Not do for Other Bootlegs) As they're as Good as The Music Played!
NOTE: "30 Days" clocks in at close to 23:00 with ALL the Other songs Intertwined Within It!
It's listed as a SDB - And It's Raw and Gritty and will shake you to the Bone!
Steve Says, In The Intro: Some Muthas Stole All Our Equipment, so we're Usin' This Foreign Shit! But, It's Gonna Be Alright!
He also mentions the show is being recorded for the King Biscuit Flower Hour! (Could you imagine the nightmare of editin' Steve for broadcast) Don't Know If This was ever aired or what!?! (IF anyone has MORE Info, as I'm sorely lackin' it here & makin' a jumble of this post, as well...Post a Comment or Sumthin'!)
So, This Is Possibly a Pre-FM!?!
EXCELLENT SOUND QUALITY & PERFORMANCE!
The Artwork isn't very good, but gets the job done - I ought to Know, I made the Crap! Maybe, I'll Go Back & Hit The Reset Button & Give it another go?
Not That ANY of That Matters!
No Matter How You Slice It (Pun Intended...)
This Is one HOT Show!
ROCK N ROLL With A Whole Lotta SOUL!
Meant To Be Played LOUD!

Here's something I bought a while ago.
Some kind of Starz Booklet from judging by the pix, 1976.
Size closed  21 - 30cms
Size opened 42 - 60cms
But my question is what is the origin of this?
Did it come with the first album?
Did you have to send away mail order for it?
Was it on sale at concerts?
Anybody who can shed some light on this for me,it would be hugely appreciated.

Rocket may have some more exciting Starz news...pretty soon.

Joe Walsh, aka Smokin' Joe, The Clown Prince, (the list goes on), giving a free show on the 4th of July 1990. And too boot, it was broadcast on KLOS-FM! Damn, how good that be? Probably the coolest one of the Eagles. Got a story about Smokin' Joe, but I'd bore the shit out of 'ya with it. Anyway......her goes... Years ago, I walked into this guitar shop here in Vegas, and there's some scroungy looking beach bum (looked like Spiccoli from Fast Times) wailing away on this guitar. I told the clerk that guy was pretty good, and he said "He should be, that's Joe Walsh"

Because , the MAIN GUY in THIS Band was ________________.
Yeah, I'm Purposely leavin' that BLANK, FOR NOW,  'cause I want you to give this a listen WITHOUT any pre-conceived notions on what to expect...(AND, Don't Cheat and GOOGLE Them!) We'll Reveal WHO it is Seriously, In a Couple Dayz!

First, IF You Will, Listen to THIS one song...It's a familiar tune and theme!
Think Bowie's Ziggy Stardust and Bad Co's Shooting Star (Don't write in and SAY I SAID It's as GREAT as those 2 songs or anything like that, 'Cause ALL I said WAS It's got the same kinda theme...)
Nikki Stargunn joins a Rock N Roll Outfit and Everything's Alright - At Least for a while...(But YOU already KNOW How it's gonna end, Right?) Nikki hits the big time, Then...Dies Tragically!

-------------------------------------------------------------

OK, NOW You CAN D/L The Rest IF'n You Like What You Hear -
IF NOT, Let IT Pass On By!

Now the REST of the Songs on this CD are really Along the Lines of 90s Sunset Strip: Sleazy, Raw & Gritty Rock N Roll! A Couple of them remind me so much of the band Junkyard! Kinda a LA Guns Swagger to them! Hard Rock/Glam, Etc. (DAMN! It's Late, Or Well, Hell, Early - Dependin' on where you are in the world!) maybe even a Tesla kinda feel to at least one or two...
Notice THIS CD Is Labeled PART ONE - Well, There NEVER Was a PART TWO, BUT I Have MORE By THIS Band - IF'n You Want It?

From WIKI:
"In 2001, Shooter Jennings left Nashville, Tennessee to seek his fortunes in Los Angeles. He assembled
and performed with Stargunn, a rock band who, through three distinct phases, sounded like a hybrid
of Lynyrd Skynyrd, David Bowie, Guns n' Roses and The Screamin' Cheetah Wheelies.
The band featured Jennings on piano and lead vocals, Carter Falco, and Kevin Sciou on guitar
and background vocals, Curtis Roach on bass, and Lex Lipsitz on drums.

Towards the end of 2001, Stargunn released their first album "The Only Way Up Is Down" and
toured with Saliva, Tesla, Mark Ford and others in support of the album. That same year
Music Connection magazine listed Stargunn as one of the Hot 100 Unsigned Artists of 2001.
In 2002 Stargunn was featured in an Tribute Record to Waylon, and the soundtrack to the
Vince Vaughn film Made. Shortly after Touchstone Pictures licensed the song
"White Lines N Black Ties" for the film The Crew starring Burt Reynolds.

Stargunn performed together for three years, built an avid following, and earned praise from the
local music press. On March 30, 2003, Jennings dissolved Stargunn and left Los Angeles to sort
out what he wanted to do next.

When asked about if we'd ever get a re-release of the Stargunn material Jennings had this to say:
"We've talked about re-releasing it, but I feel like anyone who still cares has already copied it and passed it on!
Maybe one day when we play a reunion where we all perform via satellite from our
separate locations, we will release the fury that was Stargunn upon the world!"
